Firefighter's Manhattan

Add a little scotch and you have yourself a Smokey Manhattan.

Tired of a plain old Manhattans? Ask your bartender for a Firefighter's Manhattan or also known as a Smokey Manhattan.

2 1/2 ounces of Bourbon
3/4 ounce of Sweet Vermouth
Few dashes of bitters

Shake ingredients over ice but before you strain into a martini glass; coat the glass with a strong single malt scotch. I use Caol Ila for mine. To coat the glass: pour about a tsp of your scotch into the glass and shake it around over a sink. Try to get every inch of the glass coated. Pour the remaining scotch out, you should be left with a nicely coated glass with a tiny dash of scotch laying on the bottom. Now strain your Manhattan into the glass and garnish with a cherry.

The scotch will add a smokiness to the sweet whiskey drink which go very well together. Enjoy!
